A: Our Sunless Tanning Mist "How To" video takes you through application from start to finish. For future reference, you can always find this video on the Sunless Tanning Mist product page. Q: IS IT AN INSTANT TANNER? A: No. Our Sunless Tanning Mist is a gradual tanner (you will not see color develop instantly). Your tan will begin to develop a few short hours after application. The product is intended to come out clear onto the skin. You will not see any color when misting it onto your skin. Q. WHAT DOES IT SMELL LIKE? A: Our Sunless Tanning Mist is subtly infused with our signature Privet Bloom scent, characterized by crisp, clean, uplifting notes (inspired by summer in the Hamptons!). Q: WILL IT MAKE ME ORANGE? A: Our Sunless Tanning Mist is made with red undertones as opposed to orange undertones found in typical self-tanners. This leaves your skin with the most natural-looking color that you can achieve from a bottle. Moreover, our formula is made with natural Erythrulose (a sugar from red raspberries) which helps the tan develop more evenly, gradually, and with more of a rich, bronze tone. Q: IS IT WATERPROOF? A: To an extent, after you allow it to fully dry and develop before getting the skin wet. Your tan will fade gradually if you do not maintain it with reapplications. Please do not scrub vigorously in the shower or when cleansing your face. Do not use products with oils in them, as oil will degrade the tan. Q: IS IT FAST-DRYING? A: Our Sunless Tanning Mist dries quickly due to its fine mist technology. If you apply more than 1 coat, it will take longer to dry. Please make sure the first coat is dry to the touch before applying another coat. If there is not enough space between your skin and the sprayer when applying, then it’s easy for the skin to get too wet (dripping may occur when this happens). Please ensure at least 8 inches of distance is between your skin and the product while spraying. A fan can also help quicken the drying time if you’re short on time. Q: IS IT SAFE TO USE ON BOTH MY FACE AND BODY? A: Yes. Our Sunless Tanning Mist is formulated for safe use on both the face and body. Q: WILL IT BREAK ME OUT? A: Many Sunless Tanning Mist users who are prone to self-tanner-induced breakouts report that it is the only self-tanner that does not cause them to break out. Sunless Tanning Mist is formulated with Witch Hazel, which has effective anti-acne and anti-inflammatory properties. Witch Hazel serves as an astringent, leading to the contraction of your tissues, which reduces pore size. This may help deter acne-causing bacteria from entering your skin. Q: DOES IT TRANSFER / WILL IT STAIN MY CLOTHING? A: Our Sunless Tanning Mist does not transfer on anything other than skin, as the DHA in it only reacts with the proteins found in your skin. The formula itself comes out crystal clear. Our Sunless Tanning Mist will not stain your clothing. Just be sure to give it enough time to fully dry before dressing. Q: HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT TO GET DRESSED? A: We recommend waiting 10-15 minutes, or when your skin is completely dry to the touch, before dressing. Q: WILL THE PRODUCT GET ON MY FLOORS? A: We always recommend standing on an outspread towel while tanning to avoid any product getting on the floor. Q: HOW LONG WILL MY TAN LAST? A: How long your tan lasts depends on how many coats you apply and how well you upkeep your color. We generally advise to apply 2 coats at first - mist on your first coat, wait until your skin is dry to the touch, and then apply a second coat. Two coats normally lasts a week to 9 days. We advise maintaining your tan every other day with a very light touch up. For example, if you’re touching up your face, this would look like 2-3 circular rotations around your facial area. Remember, the ultra-fine mist is designed to evenly fall onto your skin, veiling the area with streak-free color, so don’t overthink it! There is really no way to mess it up. As with all sunless tans, to help maintain color, you should avoid using body lotions with oils in them, taking showers that are too hot, or scrubbing your skin vigorously. Q: DO I HAVE TO EXFOLIATE BEFORE APPLYING? A: Although it is not normally necessary to exfoliate before applying Sunless Tanning Mist, there is one exception. If you have particularly dry skin, we recommend exfoliating areas such as the knees, elbows, tops of feet, and ankles, as the product is more likely to settle or "pool" in these areas. This is common with all self-tanners.PRO TIP: Some people with dry skin find it helpful to apply body lotion onto the areas listed above before applying, as it helps distribute the tanner more evenly. Make sure the body lotion is oil-free, as oil will degrade the tanner. Q: WILL IT MAKE MY DARK SPOTS DARKER? A: Our sunless tanning mist has not been shown to make dark spots darker. It provides a warm, golden, even wash of color. Q: I'M PALE. WILL SUNLESS TANNING MIST WORK FOR ME? A: Many pale Sunless Tanning Mist users report that our formula is the only self-tanner that gives them even, natural-looking, non-orange color.Our Sunless Tanning Mist is made with red undertones as opposed to orange undertones found in typical self-tanners. Q: DO I PUT MY SKIN CARE PRODUCTS AND MAKEUP ON BEFORE OR AFTER APPLYING? A: We recommend applying Sunless Tanning Mist to clean, dry skin (without any skincare, creams, makeup, or body lotions on the skin). After the product has dried, you can apply your skincare and makeup in the same order as you normally would. Please avoid using products with oil in them, as oil will degrade the tanner and make it fade quicker. Q: DO I PUT SUNSCREEN ON BEFORE OR AFTER APPLYING? A: Sunscreen should be applied as the very last step of your skincare routine.1. Apply your Sunless Tanning Mist to clean, dry, product-free skin. Let it fully dry.2. Apply your other skincare products, such as moisturizer, in the order you normally would.3. Apply your sunscreen as the very last step.PRO TIP: Make sure to allow each layer of your skincare to dry completely before applying the next. Q: IS THERE A WAY TO MAKE MY TAN LAST EVEN LONGER? A: Although our Sunless Tanning Mist has longer staying power than most other self-tanners, there are a few steps you can take to further extend the life of your tan. A: Due to the ultra-fine mist technology, it is difficult to get streaky results using our Sunless Tanning Mist. This said, streaking can happen if you get too close to your skin while misting. If there isn't enough room between your skin and the mist, droplets can form, which can result in streaking. If you do happen to get a little too close to your skin and see droplets forming, you can gently graze your fingertips along the droplets to help them disperse onto the skin. Q: HOW DO I TAN MY FEET? A: Spray the tops of your feet in circular motions. Please stand on an outspread towel while tanning. If you do not stand on an outspread towel, there is a risk of product getting on the floor, which can stain the bottoms of your feet if you step on it.Remember, your feet, ankles, elbows, and knees are the places that are most likely to pick up an excess amount of product if they are in a particularly dry state (this can result in extra saturated spots of color.) To safeguard against this, please moisturize your feet, ankles, elbows, and knees prior to tanning. Q: WHAT IF I HAVE WHITE OR VERY LIGHT-COLORED HAIR? A: If you have white or very lightly colored hair, we recommend wearing a shower cap or other hair covering while misting. Ensure the edges of the shower cap are positioned exactly where your hairline ends.Since your hair is made up of protein, it has the potential to pull in the color of the product, which may result in temporary staining. Q: HOW LONG WILL A SINGLE CAN OF SUNLESS TANNING MIST LAST ME? A: It's difficult to say how long one can will last, as the amount of product used to achieve the desired result varies from person to person.For example, one layer be more than enough for one person. Another person who prefers deeper color would layer more of the product on. We recommend trying it out for yourself and seeing what works for you.Remember, if you aren't completely satisfied, we have a 30-day return policy, even if the product is opened and used.
