How do I apply Sunless Tanning Mist?

Is it an instant tanner?
No. Our Sunless Tanning Mist is a gradual tanner (you will not see color develop instantly). The product will come out clear onto your skin. Your tan will begin to develop a few short hours after application.
Does it transfer / will it stain my clothing?
Our Sunless Tanning Mist does not transfer on anything other than skin, as the DHA in it only reacts with the proteins found in your skin. The formula itself comes out crystal clear. Our Sunless Tanning Mist will not stain your clothing. Just be sure to give it enough time to fully dry before dressing.
Will it make me orange?
Our Sunless Tanning Mist is made with red undertones as opposed to orange undertones found in typical self-tanners. This leaves your skin with the most natural-looking color that you can achieve from a bottle. Moreover, our formula is made with natural Erythrulose (a sugar from red raspberries) which helps the tan develop more evenly, gradually, and with more of a rich, bronze tone.
Can I use it on my face and body?
Yes. Our Sunless Tanning
Mist is formulated for safe use on both the face and body. Please keep your eyes gently closed while misting your face.
Do I have to exfoliate before?
It is not necessary to exfoliate before applying our Sunless Tanning Mist. If you have exceptionally dry skin, it is best to exfoliate areas such as the knees, elbows, tops of feet, and ankles as a precaution, as these are the areas that are most prone to product settling with any sunless tanner.
Will it break me out?
Many Sunless Tanning Mist users who are prone to self-tanner-induced breakouts report that it is the only self-tanner that does not cause them to break out. Sunless Tanning Mist is formulated with Witch Hazel, which has effective anti-acne and anti-inflammatory properties. Witch Hazel serves as an astringent, leading to the contraction of your tissues, which reduces pore size. This may help deter acne-causing bacteria from entering your skin.
What does it smell like?
Our Sunless Tanning Mist is subtly infused with our signature Privet Bloom scent, characterized by crisp, clean, uplifting notes (inspired by summer in the Hamptons!).
Is it waterproof?
Our Sunless Tanning Mist will not wash off with water if given adequate time to fully dry before getting the skin wet. It will fade gradually if you do not maintain the tan with reapplications. Do not scrub vigorously while cleansing or in the shower to help prolong the life of your tan.

Is it one shade?
We created our Sunless Tanning Mist to offer extreme flexibility in customizing the color of your tan. The ultra-fine mist technology ensures a subtle, even first coat. This makes it easy to continue layering until you’re happy with the color. Most Sunless Tanning Mist users find what they are looking for with two coats. Keep in mind, it doesn’t take much product to cover your skin with a “coat” of product. The ultra-fine mist will veil your skin with an even coat of product. This is also why Sunless Tanning Mist has been shown to develop beautifully across a wide range of skin tones.
How long will my tan last?
How long your tan lasts depends on how many coats you apply and how well you upkeep your color. We generally advise to apply 2 coats at first - mist on your first coat, wait until your skin is dry to the touch, and then apply a second coat. Two coats normally last a week to 9 days. We advise maintaining your tan every other day with a very light touch up. For example, if you’re touching up your face, this would generally look like 2-3 circular rotations around your facial area.
Remember, the ultra-fine mist is designed to evenly fall onto your skin, veiling the area with streak-free color, so don’t overthink it! There is really no way to mess it up. As with all sunless tans, to help maintain color, you should avoid using body lotions with oils in them, taking showers that are too hot, or scrubbing your skin vigorously.
